Julio Yarnel Rodriguez is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder for the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball. He is popularly known as “J-Rod”. He was born on December 29, 2000, at Loma de Cabrera, Dominican Republic.

Rodriguez, at age 16, signed with the Seattle Mariners as an international free agent in July 2017 for a bonus of $1.75 million. He made his professional debut in 2018 with the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League Mariners.

He was over three years younger than an average player. He started 2019 with the Class A West Virginia Power in the South Atlantic League.

He missed part of the season due to a fractured left hand. He was later promoted to the Class A-Advance Modesto Nuts in the California League in August in 2019, making him one of only three 18-year-olds in the minor league.

Rodriguez started playing with the Everett AquaSox in June 2021. He was also ranked No. 1 on the Mariners prospect list and No. 2 on the MLB top 100 prospect list in August 2021.

April 8, 2022, was the day Rodriguez made his major league debut on Opening Day. He was named American League(AL) Rookie of the Month consecutively for May and June 2022.

He was selected to the 2022 All-Star Game roster making him the sixth Mariner rookie to do so. He will participate in the 2022 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby.
